Write for Rights!

As you may know, December the 10th is the International Human Rights Day, soI'd like to propose to you a somewhat different writing task for this week: This time you will devote your time and energy to writing to real people who are the victims of the violation of most basic international human rights law worldwide. You may also write to the authorities who are permitting all this.

Let me warn you that this is an optional writing task. So you're free to choose. It won't be marked, but I will help you with the grammar if you want to.

Food for Thought: TV Series Made in America

A few weeks ago we were discussing  parenthood issues in class, remember? We actually watched one episode of Modern Family, in which we saw three  intertwined families dealing with their garden-variety family life, from the most stereotypical one to the gay couple and their adopted Vietnamese girl. Well, after watching it we had a class-discussion on the different issues depicted, and one of your fellow students wrote up a review which brings up one issue we didn't comment on but it's certainly important. Writing assignment for Halloween

Hello there,

As part of your homework for Halloween (I know... what a bummer...sorry...),  you have to write a report about the topic below, following the practice and instructions given on the coursebook, pages 16 and 17, under the headings Reading and Writing Skills. Complete the exercises step by step, and get ready to write a report of which the title is:

A new form of Romance: Finding love in the Internet

Write about 140 words. Divide your report into four or five paragraphs, making sure you introduce the topic in one paragraph, develop the main ideas in two or three paragraphs, and conclude and give your personal opinion in a last paragraph, ok? Oops... And happy Halloween!

After the practice we did in class on the basic components of an article or essay. After these fun titles we came up with for some given topics. After learning about what a topic sentence is, and managing the structure and layout of an article, here comes your writing assignment for the month: Child Obesity in Spain.
